The Georgian director George Ovashvilli has created a movie that opens your eyes and leaves an unforgettable impression. Though many are affected by the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, many are not even aware that it exists.
The Other Bank tells a story of a Georgian boy, whose family fled from Abkhazia during the war and who is living in poverty of Tbilisi. Yet, one day he decides to go back to Abkhazia and find his father whom he hasn’t seen in years. Through the story of his journey, the director, George Ovashvilli portrays many different aspects of life after the war: from street children to international violence.

Overall, The Other Bank is a must-see. The film’s cinematography is done in such a way, that you are hypnotized by what is going on. Calling this film amazing is not giving it enough justice. In short, The Other Bank is the definition of what film is supposed to do and what effect it is supposed to have on people.
